Hello,
We hope you have been enjoying the summer. Some strange weather days of course, but we have actually had some really beautiful summery sunny days at last.
Welcome to our September newsletter - this month, we’re looking at our Colombian Supremo coffee in detail with our new blog post, sharing tips for mastering iced coffee for those late warmer days, and chatting all things Well Roasted.
Grab your favourite cup, settle in, and let’s dive into all things coffee!
Our Coffee of the Summer
We wanted to mention a special roast that we feel captures the essence of late summer. Our award-winning ‘Uganda Bukonzo Dream Coffee’ is a speciality single-origin Arabica coffee from the Ibanda District in Uganda. It is grown by the Bukonzo tribespeople at high altitude in the Rwenzori Mountains and is known as 'Bukonzo Dream' after the farmers desire to be able to provide better opportunities for each generation. It has soft fruit summer flavours with hints of strawberry, black cherry and cranberry and gives a zingy explosion in the mouth with a smooth pleasant after taste. You can read more about it here…

How to Make a Great Iced Coffee
Iced Coffee Recipe:
In case you missed this on our social media, this is how we make an Iced Coffee using espresso…in 5 easy steps. You can use any of our speciality coffee beans to make this.
STEP 1 – Make a double shot of espresso, leave on the side
STEP 2 – Add two ice cubes (about 50-60g) into your glass or re-usable cup
STEP 3 – Pour 150ml of cold milk of your choice over the ice cubes
STEP 4 – Put your re-usable straw in to the iced milk
STEP 5 – Pour your double espresso into the iced milk, stirring with the straw. Done!
Enjoy!
This recipe is for an Iced Flat White – double espresso + 150ml of milk. If you prefer an Iced Latte – add 3 ice cubes in total and 250ml of milk
Top Tips:
1/ We make the espresso first and leave it to sit on the side for a minute so that it doesn’t melt the ice too quickly.
2/ If you use an insulated cup, you will find that the ice doesn’t melt quickly at all, and so doesn’t dilute your iced coffee.
Cool Cold Coffee Facts:
1/ While the fundamental flavour notes derived from your coffee beans remain the same, their prominence and balance can shift based on whether the coffee is served hot or iced.
2/ Our taste buds are temperature-sensitive. Certain flavours are more pronounced at higher temperatures, while others emerge more distinctly at lower temperatures. For instance, acidity and fruity notes are often more noticeable in iced coffee, while the bitterness and body can be more pronounced in hot coffee.
3/ Cooler temperatures can suppress bitterness and enhance perceived sweetness. This means that an iced coffee might taste sweeter and less bitter than its hot counterpart, even if no sugar is added. Cool hey?
Dovecote Buttery – Loyal Customers
The Dovecote Buttery in Northamptonshire have been using our coffee in their restaurant and coffee shop for more than 8 years now - they are one of our longest standing customers. If you have never been before it is a stunning barn conversion set on Dovecote Farm, with a family run restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop in the historic village of Newton-in-the-Willows, Kettering NN14 1BW.
